Gratitude post and Fund raising for food aid

On Fri 16 Jul 2021, the volunteer team providing food aid to the needy around Old Klang Road received a big donation of 50 bags of 5kg rice, 101 packs of 1kg rice and 50 sets of cupcakes and muffins from DJ 蒋佩佩 of AiFM, Wholesome Living, donors from Eshop Live Asia and a bakery that wishes to remain anonymous. Thank you very much!

After a hectic weekend of food aid distribution, all that was left was 5 bags of 5kg rice and 69 packs of 1kg rice. All in all 257kg of rice were distributed along with other basic foodstuff and the cupcakes and muffins (that would be a treat for the coming Hari Raya Haji).

Aid recipients sent us their thanks, gratitude and also prayers to bless donors and volunteers. Most of them have not been working for at least 2 months. They are also entitled to receive aid more than once. So we are feeding more people with each week.

We estimated that the cost of the food aid distributed over the weekend was around RM1500 (excluding the cupcakes and muffins). It was our busiest week since we reactivated about 1 month ago. We are pretty much the same team that swung into action during the lockdown last year.

We are seeing more and more cases and requests for food aid with each week. Given that the lockdown does not look set to end soon due to the record Covid-19 cases in KL/Selangor, we expect to have to continue operations for at least 2 months. We aim to continue to provide aid until 1 month post end of lockdown.

With the current trend of cases, we expect our funds to last no more than 2 weeks. Thus we are doing another round of fund raising to enable us to continue providing food aid to the needy.

Company accounts also won’t be frozen for sudden increase in activity. QR codes for TnGo eWallet and DuitNow are also available in the attached photos. All funds will go towards providing food aid to the needy and us volunteers don’t take a single cent, not even for our petrol.
