Long ago, when there was nothing much to do at night, the skies were clear and unpolluted; many a man stared into the night sky admiring and studying the stars.
And some realised that certain stars moved while most stars were stationary. The Greeks call these moving stars asteres planetai (ἀστέρες πλανῆται) which means “wandering stars” and that’s how the term “planets” came about. For it is what we know as planets today that look like bright stars to us, and as they orbit the Sun, they seem to move much faster than the actual stars that are many light-years away.
Soon astronomers realized the few planets (only planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are visible to the naked eye), the Moon and Sun actually have a fixed orbit around the Earth. They call this fixed orbit the ecliptic plane which is defined by the movement of the Sun around the Earth (they didn’t know it was the Earth that orbited the Sun back then).
There were constellations of stars on the ecliptic sky and since these stars/constellations do not move, the positions of the celestial bodies (planets, Moon, Sun, etc.) were noted against the backdrop of these constellations of stars; which came to be known as the Zodiac.
Since these planets and the Moon and Sun move around in the sky a lot relative to the stationary stars, and against a backdrop of constellations that seem to resemble fascinating creatures and characters; eventually people began to link what they see in the sky with their lives, and astrology came about.
ASTRONOMICAL ASTROLOGY
Time permitting, Ket hopes to use his foundation in Vedic Astrology, modern astronomical tools, and energy reading to research and develop Astronomical Astrology.
Simply put, it’s astrology based on actual positions of stars, planets or celestial bodies as seen in the sky, per astronomy. Which is what ancient astrologers did – they looked up into the sky and plotted the positions of celestial bodies and planets relative to the stars and constellations in astrology charts.
Practically all astrologers plot positions of celestial bodies (planets, Moon, Sun, etc.) on astrology charts that reflect the 360 degrees of the ecliptic sky. However, the representation on the chart does not necessarily reflect actual positions of the celestial bodies in the sky. Most Western astrology charts plot the celestial bodies against what they call is the tropical zodiac, which is not what is seen in the sky. Vedic Astrology charts are based on sidereal zodiac which is more or less what is seen in the sky. Vedic Astrology typically divides the 360 degrees of the ecliptic sky equally amongst the 12 constellations of the zodiac. In reality, each constellation does not occupy equal segments of the ecliptic. So, what you see in normal Vedic Astrology charts do not fully represent what you actually see in the sky either.
Thus, Ket is looking to study and research into astrology that is based on actual positions of celestial bodies as seen in the sky, and using astrology charts with unequal division of the ecliptic but actual segmented representation of the sidereal zodiac.
Meanwhile, his research has shown that planetary and celestial alignments can affect people significantly.
Blog posts of such celestial alignments will be shown here.
