Listen To Malaysia, part Ep 5 Rare Angels NTV7 25 Dec 2015

NTV7’s Listen to Malaysia 2015 Part of Episode 5: Rare Angels Screened (coincidentally?) on 25 Dec 2015 about coping with rare diseases in Malaysia Yvonne Foong is living with Neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2), a genetic disease which causes tumours to grow in her Central Nervous System.

She has survived the ordeal of 17 surgeries, of which 8 were performed on her brain and will be going for her 9th brain surgery in Jan 2016. This video sheds some light on how Yvonne lives with NF2 in Malaysia.

Key excerpts from the video (translated):

Mei Sim (Presenter): Whenever Yvonne is free, she’ll join a group of friends for meditation, one of whom is Cordelia, this bespectacled and long-haired lady. Cordelia says that when she first knew her, Yvonne was a shy, young, teenager. After getting to know Yvonne better through her postings in her blog (www.yvonnefoong.com), both became good friends.

Yvonne: At first, initially she thought that I was strong. But when she got to know me better, she noticed my inner darkness. So I opened up to her. Cordelia did not run away, she stayed and tried to guide me out of it.

MS: To Yvonne, Cordelia played an important role in her life. Whenever she encountered problems and obstacles in her life, Cordelia was there guiding and encouraging her; notably during the challenging process of trying to get Yvonne’s book published. Cordelia was there all the way, lending much needed help and support.

MS: Cordelia have known Yvonne for so many years and built such a special friendship. She was willing to give her all unconditionally to Yvonne without being the least calculative of her contributions. It was her who said that “Sometimes it’s not just us helping Yvonne, but through Yvonne we learn a lot.” So, don’t think about what I ought to get in return for the help I’m rendering. When you are helping people, you’ll naturally gain a lot of fulfilment.

MS: Yvonne is a very positive person, you see her willing to try new things in life. She’s always trying to spread her positive energy to others. Is there anything you’d like to share with others, Yvonne?

Yvonne: Honestly, I would sincerely want to suggest them to come to try the CordyKet meditation. When we have a condition like ours, it’s understandable some people feel trapped. When we do meditation, we shift our mind to be not so trapped. Once we find our peace, we will feel beyond our condition, beyond our physical limitation. With this, we will feel freer.
